About Us
ESI Hospital, Andheri, was constructed for 600 beds in the year 1977. Bed Strength was reduced to 300 beds by Govt. of Maharashtra from 1.10.2007. ESI Corporation has taken over the hospital on 14.4.08 to run it as a Model Hospital from the State of Maharashtra. ESI Corporation has now sanctioned staff for upgrading the hospital to 500 bed strength. This hospital has also been earmarked to be developed as an Occupational Disease Centre for Western Region.
The concept of Model Hospital is to develop to cater services in primary and secondary medical services to the fullest extent by adequate staffing, equipping and supplying with drugs and dressing in order to minimize the reference outside. It also takes care of improvement in engineering services including Civil, Electrical, Horticulture, Drainage etc. so as to enhance the patient friendly atmosphere of the hospital.
ESI Corporation had decided to take over one hospital from each State, upgrade it and run it on its own as a Model Hospital for that State. Model Hospital shall have all the general facilities and some Super specialities services with full staff, equipments and drugs and dressings, so that it becomes a benchmark for other hospitals to develop.
